Bioluminescence, or cold light as it is sometimes known, is an area of great interest to scientists and non-scientists alike. The impressive displays often shown on our television screens leads to much intrigue and the asking of questions such as:- Who, How and Why?

As yet the answers to these questions are not even close to being fully answered and what is known just leads to further questioning of the intricacy and intelligence of such physiology. This site hopes to answer some of the basic questions in a way that is easy to understand and to help you appreciate the diversity of life forms using bioluminescence in their own unique way.
